The Role
We are seeking a detail-oriented and collaborative Product Specifications Manager to join our team. This pivotal role ensures that all product specifications are accurate, consistent, and compliant throughout the product lifecycle.
Reporting to senior leadership, you will act as the central point of coordination between product management, sales, planning, procurement, quality, and manufacturing teams—ensuring that product requirements are clearly defined, documented, and executed to meet both business and customer expectations.
You will also play a key role in driving process improvement, product compliance, and effective change management across labels, packaging, and specifications.
Key Responsibilities
* Ensure all Retail Price changes are completed and checked by the required time
* Input all price changes into Nav BC (our customer/ order data base system)
* Approve and manage all weight change requests
* On floor and in store audit checks of labels, packaging, pricing, presentation to ensure it meets the required specification
* Supports Product Development and Launches where needed with sample collection/ review/ approval
* Manage change management process for all current products- labels, packaging, production area etc
* Maintains Product Master Data information
* Review Item specifications to ensure they stay up to date (including pack images)
* Manage the products end of life when deleting product items
* Work closely and communicate well with Quality Assurance, Planning, Production, Procurement and the broader Sales teams
* Drive continuous improvement in product documentation and specification management
* Support the Tactical team balancing orders on the morning shift
About You
* Proven experience in product specification management, product development, or quality assurance within FMCG, food, or related manufacturing environments.
* Strong attention to detail and organisational skills.
* Proficiency with ERP systems (e.g., Nav BC or similar) and confidence in managing product data.
* Ability to manage multiple stakeholders across sales, planning, procurement, & production.
* Strong communication and problem-solving skills with a collaborative mindset.
* Experience in label compliance, packaging specifications, and retail product management will be highly regarded.
* Relevant tertiary qualifications in Food Science, Product Management, Business, or related discipline desirable.
Key Selection Criteria
1. Demonstrated experience in product specifications, quality assurance, or product management within FMCG/food manufacturing.
2. Strong knowledge of ERP systems and ability to manage product master data with accuracy.
3. Proven ability to manage change processes for packaging, labels, and product specifications.
4. Strong stakeholder engagement skills with the ability to work across cross-functional teams.
5. High level of attention to detail and commitment to accuracy and compliance.
6. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to prepare clear documentation and reports.
7. Experience conducting audits or checks on product presentation, labelling, and compliance.
8. Tertiary qualifications in a relevant field (preferred but not essential).
