We have an exciting opportunity for a Category Development Analyst to support the delivery of Woolworths Category strategy through facilitating a planning process that identifies and prioritises the strategies and tactics of Buying Teams and Suppliers to plan the most meaningful activities for customers and increase the capability of the Commercial team in developing a customer-focused range to drive benefits for customers, suppliers, and Woolworths through a data-driven range review process.
**Additional responsibilities will include, however not be limited to:
- Work with Category Managers to communicate insights from data and provide recommendations
- Facilitate the planning process across Buying Teams (both Merchandise Manager and Category Manager plans) and the Joint Category Planning Process (JCPs) with Suppliers
- Incorporate strategic insights from qualitative and quantitative consumer and category research into the ranging decision
- Derive actionable insights based on qualitative and quantitative data
- Complete range reviews with Category Managers in line with strategic objectives
- Build category and customer expertise. Consult and collaborate confidently with stakeholders to strengthen ideas
- Use analytical tools to develop the right range aligned to the company's financial and customer objectives

- Clear analytical thinking, capable of breaking information into component parts, patterns and relationships
- Be able to interpret data and make recommendations for short and long term strategies
- Derives actionable insights and the ability to use data to support decision making and recommendations
- Able to use advanced Excel functions e.g. pivot tables, formulas and conditional formatting
- Experience using agency tools for analysis an advantage e.g. Quantium, Nielsen
- Strong visual, verbal and written communication skills; comfortable presenting
- Understands the retail industry and commercial processes of Woolworths and Suppliers - Desirable
- Strong quantitative or qualitative background with experience working with large datasets - Desirable
- Comfortable networking to build working relationships with support teams and suppliers
