Clinical Coordinator Role Overview
Forensicare is a leading provider of forensic mental health services across Victoria, Australia. We deliver recovery-focused programs to consumers with serious mental illnesses across the Victorian justice system, mental health sector and the community – from early intervention and prevention to inpatient care, rehabilitation, and community transition support.
The Mobile Forensic Mental Health Service (MobileFMHS) provides care for prisoners who need more intensive levels of service through the increase in availability of mental health professionals. The service works with mental health, health and program services within the Metropolitan Remand Centre (MRC) and the broader prison system.
We are seeking a Clinical Coordinator to ensure efficient triage assessment and coordination of mental health care of Mobile Forensic Mental Health Service (MobileFMHS) clients within MRC. This role will involve liaising with other relevant mental health services during transition of clients to other prisons, providing mental health consultation to relevant stakeholders and providing clinical leadership, supervision and support to MRC based nursing staff.
Main Responsibilities:
* Triage all referrals and prioritise waitlist accordingly
* Participate in client's transition and discharge
* Provide clinical leadership to nursing staff
* Develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders
Required Skills and Qualifications:
* Registered Nurse
* Postgraduate qualification in Psychiatric Nursing or equivalent
* At least 5 years of Psychiatric nursing experience
* Thorough knowledge of current psychiatric nursing practices and legislation
* Experience in independently triaging referrals
* Demonstrated ability to undertake assessments of prisoners with mental impairment
* Plan, implement and evaluate interventions, counselling, and therapeutic programs
