ABOUT THE ROLE
As a drill and blast trainee at Norton Gold Fields, you are expected to learn all aspects of the department and train under supervision in both drilling and blasting duties, depending on the operational requirements.
* Training Participation: Engage in company training plans to develop necessary skills and knowledge.
* Equipment Pre-starts: Inspect and prepare equipment before operation to ensure safety and functionality.
* Explosive Handling: Prime up and load explosives for blasting operations.
* Hole Stemming: Properly stem blast holes to facilitate successful blasting.
* Pattern Tying and Marking: Assist in tying patterns as per the plan and mark drill patterns accurately.
* Blast Support: Aid the Shotfirer in all aspects of the blast, including hole depth checks and following blast plans.
* Equipment Care and Maintenance: Operate equipment following best practices to minimize damage, report faults to maintenance, and ensure safe transportation of materials.
* Any other duties as required.
ABOUT YOU
* Current, unrestricted Western Australian Class “C” Driver’s Licence (Essential).
* Previous experience in an Open-Pit/Cut mining environment (Desirable).
* Dangerous Goods Security Card (Desirable).
* Strong commitment to safety and team player.
