Continence Nurse (Complex Disability & Epilepsy Care)

We are seeking an experienced Registered Nurse with a strong background in continence care and complex disability to support a young person with significant health, behavioural and neurological needs.
This role is ideal for a nurse who enjoys hands-on clinical work, staff education, and multidisciplinary collaboration, and who understands the importance of delivering care outside hospital settings.
About the Role
You will provide specialist continence and clinical nursing support to a participant with:
Autism Spectrum Disorder
Intellectual Disability
Fragile X Syndrome
Treatment-resistant Epilepsy
Anxiety and ADHD
Disability-associated urinary and faecal incontinence
A key part of this role is training and supporting the participant's care team, ensuring safe, dignified and consistent care across all settings.
Key Responsibilities
Conduct comprehensive continence assessments and reviews
Develop and review bladder and bowel care plans
Prescribe and review continence consumables and low-cost AT
Monitor skin integrity and prevent IAD and wounds
Provide epilepsy-specific care planning and post-seizure protocols
Attend medical and specialist appointments when required
Liaise with GP, specialists and allied health providers
Deliver practical, competency-based training to support workers in:
Continence care
Epilepsy response and post-seizure care
Skin integrity management
Infection prevention
Trauma-informed care
Provide written reports and recommendations for NDIS plan reviews
Essential Criteria
Current AHPRA registration as a Registered Nurse
Strong experience in continence nursing
Experience working with epilepsy and complex disability
Confidence in staff training, delegation and supervision
Excellent clinical documentation and report writing skills
Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team
Understanding of NDIS-funded nursing supports
Desirable
Experience in community or disability nursing
Experience with autism and behaviours of concern
Continence Nurse Certification or willingness to work toward it
