Finance Manager – Merger & Transformation (Max-Term Contract) Location: Preston, VIC

Our client is a well-established Australian supplier of premium consumables and commercial equipment, servicing retailers, distributors and hospitality operators nationally. With a strong footprint, a trusted technical service offering and a continually expanding product range, the business is entering an exciting phase of growth and integration following recent mergers. To support this transformation, they are seeking an experienced Finance Manager to lead financial alignment and uplift across the group.
The Role Joining the business on a max-term contract through to 31 December, the Finance Manager – Merger & Transformation will report to the Head of Finance and step in as their delegate when needed. This role will lead and develop a small team while driving consistency, structure and robust reporting across multiple merged entities.
Working onsite five days per week, you will thrive in a hands‐on, fast‐paced FMCG environment where no two days are the same.
Key Responsibilities
* Provide leadership to finance team members and act as a proxy for the Head of Finance when required.
* Establish consistent reporting structures, timelines and formats across integrated entities.
* Standardise financial policies, procedures and internal control frameworks.
* Partner with operational leaders to align the financial function with evolving business models.
* Conduct financial modelling and scenario analysis to support integration and commercial decisions.
* Ensure compliance with accounting standards and regulatory requirements.
* Oversee integration of AP, AR, payroll and general ledger functions.
* Identify, implement and deliver cost synergies and process efficiencies.
* Oversee accounts payable to ensure strong controls, accuracy and timely payments.
* Lead the month‐end close process, ensuring accuracy, timeliness and integrity of financial information.
* Prepare monthly management accounts, variance analysis and executive reporting packs.
* Manage head office reporting, including consolidations and required system uploads.
* Support cash flow forecasting, working capital optimisation and financial risk management.
* Drive financial integration activities related to mergers and acquisitions.
* Align charts of accounts, reporting structures and finance processes across the group.
* Lead and support ERP implementation and optimisation initiatives, ideally SAP B1.
* Partner with sales operations and supply chain to deliver financial insights and operational performance analysis.
* Support budgeting and forecasting cycles.
Skills & Experience
* CPA qualified.
* Proven leadership experience as a Finance Manager within FMCG or consumables.
* Strong track record in month‐end close, consolidation and financial governance.
* Demonstrated ERP implementation or optimisation experience (SAP B1 highly advantageous).
* Advanced Excel capability and strong analytical skills.
* Comfortable operating both strategically and hands‐on within a dynamic environment.
* Strong stakeholder engagement skills across commercial and operational functions.
* Experience navigating multi‐entity integration is highly desirable.
* Experience in mergers and acquisitions is important.
* Experience with Power BI is advantageous.
