Join the Southern Queensland Centre of Excellence in Inala as a permanent full-time Client Support Officer, helping Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander clients access culturally respectful health and wellbeing services.
Your New Role
In this meaningful community-facing role you will support Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander clients to navigate the healthcare system and access culturally appropriate services.
You will advocate for clients, build relationships with partner organisations, and ensure a respectful and supportive experience for all community members by:
Working closely with clients to overcome barriers to accessing health and social support services.
Facilitating referrals, providing practical assistance and offering advice on health, self-care and wellbeing.
Engaging with other health professionals and community agencies to coordinate support.
Ensuring services are delivered in culturally safe, respectful and acceptable ways.
Maintaining accurate documentation, follow-up procedures and service records.
Upholding high standards of practice and supporting quality, safety and ethical workplace practices.
About You
You are a compassionate, community-minded professional committed to supporting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and building culturally safe, trusting relationships.
Required skills and experience include:
Demonstrated experience working effectively with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander clients in a health or community context.
Strong communication skills, including written reports and accurate activity recording.
Ability to assess client needs and provide advocacy, referrals and tailored support plans.
Sound judgement, problem-solving skills and a respectful, non-judgemental approach.
Well-developed organisational, interpersonal and teamwork skills within a multidisciplinary service.
Ability to work within defined scope of practice, following policies and guidelines.
Capacity to build and maintain strong relationships with community members, partner agencies and stakeholders.
Mandatory requirements such as VPD compliance, Class C driver's licence and ability to work legally in Australia.
