Join our team as a Service Manager Financial Planning Lead Council’s strategic financial planning, modelling and budgeting capability at a pivotal time of transformation. This role combines technical financial expertise with strong people leadership to deliver long‑term financial sustainability, trusted advice to senior leaders, and enterprise‑wide improvements in systems, processes and ways of working across Redland City Council.
Your responsibilities will include:
Strategic financial leadership
– Lead long‑term financial modelling, strategy and sustainability reviews
Corporate budget ownership
– Drive Council’s annual budget and budget review processes end‑to‑end
Expert modelling & insights
– Deliver high‑quality forecasting, scenario testing and specialist analysis
Revenue & rates expertise
– Oversee general rate and revenue modelling to support executive decisions
People & culture leadership
– Build team purpose, capability, performance and career development
Systems & continuous improvement
– Prioritise system enhancements to deliver fit‑for‑purpose finance tools
Stakeholder engagement
– Partner with Executives, service areas and external regulators with confidence
Finance leadership contribution
– Actively contribute to the broader Financial Services leadership team
Skills and experience
Strong knowledge of financial forecasting, budgeting, modelling and scenario analysis
Proven experience leading, mentoring and developing high‑performing finance teams
Track record delivering customer‑focused financial services and strategic advice
Confidence engaging with senior leaders and diverse internal and external stakeholders
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with clarity and attention to detail
Experience using financial management systems in medium to large organisations
ERP implementation experience highly desirable (TechnologyOne experience advantageous)
Professional membership with CPA Australia or equivalent professional body desirable but not mandatory

You’ll hold a Tertiary qualification in Business or Accounting or equivalent (eg Bachelor of Commerce, relevant experience + MBA or other relevant post‑grad qualifications)
You’ll have knowledge and experience in the application of Australian Accounting Standards
