Disability Support Worker. Casual - Mackay
Joining the team in Mackay as a Disability Support Worker, you will provide active support to people with disability across Supported Independent Living (SIL) and Lifestyle settings. The people you will support are looking for experienced support workers who can assist in activities of daily living including personal care, PEG feeding, and manual handling and hoisting.
In our Supported Independent Living (SIL) team, you will support people with disability in shared housing or in their own home, providing various supports including personal care and daily living. You can expect to work across a 24/7 roster, including availability for sleepover shifts.
Shifts are also available in our Lifestyles program, where you will provide one-on-one support to individuals with disabilities in their homes or the community, with travel between clients and working short, split shifts required.
Key Responsibilities
* Follow person-centred support and behaviour plans
* Provide personal care, PEG feeding, and manual handling and hoisting assistance
* Facilitate client goal achievement through meaningful activities
* Maintain thorough record keeping
* Build positive relationships with clients, families, and colleagues
* Advocate for client choice and control
Skills & Experience
* Previous experience working with people with disability
* Experience in PEG feeding and Hoisting
* Ability to follow behaviour support plans
* Experience in providing personal care
* A current First Aid and CPR Certificate
Successful candidates will be required to clear probity checks, including a National Criminal History Record Check and obtain an NDIS Clearance.
