The Parks Finance team is looking for highly motivated and experienced management accountants to provide financial management support for Parks Australia.
- Meet and work with stakeholders on park and learn about the unique natural and cultural wonders the parks and gardens offer.
- Support the iconic parks and gardens by providing high-level financial management support and advice, budget preparation and financial performance monitoring and reporting.
- Assess and evaluate financial management strategy, initiatives, projects, policy and procedures and identify innovation and continuous improvement opportunities to ensure the financial sustainability of Parks Australia.

**Who we are**
Australia's natural and cultural heritage is unique. Our land and seascapes are distinctive, home to plants and animals found nowhere else in the world, and to some of the oldest living cultures on earth. These environments and cultures are an essential part of our national identity, and visitors travel from across the country and the world to experience them. The Director of National Parks (the Director) is responsible for six national parks, the Australian National Botanic Gardens, 58 Australian Marine Parks and the Heard Island and McDonald Islands Marine Reserve established under the Environment Protection and Biodiversity Conservation Act 1999. Parks Australia is the federal park agency that supports the Director, and they are a division of the Department of Climate Change, Energy, the Environment and Water (the Department). We work to showcase these natural and cultural wonders to the world, demonstrating to all why these places are so special, and inspiring communities to become more invested in their care and future.

The Parks Support Services Branch provides corporate services for Parks Australia including Human Resources, Procurement, Assurance and Governance, Legal and Finance.

The Parks Finance Section is responsible for the financial management of Parks Australia. The section supports the iconic parks and gardens through strategic and practical financial advice and guidance.

**The Job**
- Undertake high-quality analysis work, including reviewing end of month financial information.
- Prepare monthly finance reporting and end of month journals.
- Assist in the development of internal budgets and quarterly budget reviews.
- Invoice processing and procurement for the section.
- Assist with asset processing and infrastructure project budget management.
- Assist with Financial Statements preparation.
- Develop, support and manage relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
- Lead financial improvement projects across our parks and gardens.

**What we are looking for**

**Knowledge and experience**
- Experience in providing high-level financial management support and advice, budget preparation and financial performance monitoring and reporting.
- Experience in managing financial governance requirements and compliance with the financial management framework.
- High proficiency in the use of Excel and SAP (or other FMIS) is essential.
- Experience with reporting tools such as Power BI, well regarded but not essential.

- Highly developed communication, interpersonal and financial skills with an emphasis on working collaboratively.
- Versatile, creative and have the demonstrated ability to manage multiple deadlines under pressure.
- Ability to work under supervision and collaborate effectively with colleagues.
- Initiative, strong problem-solving skills and an ability to think laterally.
- Ability to translate financial information and strategy into business outcomes.
- Ability to assess and evaluate financial management strategy, initiatives, projects, policy and procedures and identify innovation and continuous improvement opportunities.

**Desirable qualifications**
Relevant Tertiary Degree in Accounting/FinanceCPA/CA Qualifications or working towards.

**Citizenship** - To be eligible for employment with the Department of Climate Change, Energy, the Environment and Water you must be an Australian citizen.

**Security Clearance** - This position requires a Baseline Vetting security clearance. You will be required to obtain and maintain a clearance at this level.
