Faith Lutheran College Plainland is seeking a motivated and skilled Groundskeeper and Equipment Maintenance Person to join our Facilities Team and Trade Training Centre. This role plays a key part in maintaining the safety, functionality, and presentation of our beautiful campus and supporting practical learning activities for students.

About the role
This position is split evenly between the Facilities Team and the Trade Training Centre. You will be responsible for maintaining high‑quality grounds and outdoor spaces, providing equipment servicing and repairs, and offering practical support during learning activities.
You'll work closely with the Facilities Manager, teachers, trainers and assessors to ensure the College environment is safe, engaging, and conducive to learning.
Key Responsibilities
Facilities Team
* Perform routine grounds and landscaping tasks, including mowing, pruning, weeding, planting and lawn care.
* Maintain the presentation, cleanliness and safety of all outdoor areas.
* Assist with event setup and pack down, logistics, and hazard management.
* Support wider facilities and maintenance operations as directed.
Trade Training Centre – Equipment Maintenance
* Perform routine and breakdown maintenance on tools, machinery and equipment.
* Ensure equipment is properly cleaned, serviced, stored and safely operated.
* Support teachers and trainers by supervising students during practical learning tasks.
Community & Values

About You
Essential
* Experience in equipment or mechanical maintenance, groundskeeping, landscaping or general building maintenance.
* Ability to operate and maintain a range of trade tools and machinery.
* Strong mechanical aptitude and understanding of WHS standards.
* Physically fit with the ability to work outdoors in varying conditions.
* Strong communication, time management and organisational skills.
* Ability to work both independently and in a team.
* Basic computer skills for record‑keeping.
* Current Blue Card.
Desirable
* Qualifications in mechanical, landscaping, turf or building services (Cert II/III).
* Trainer and Assessor qualifications (Cert IV).
* Experience in a school environment.
* First Aid/CPR certification; snake‑handling or wildlife management training.
* Manual Queensland driver's licence.
