* Drive procurement practice improvements across WA's Local Government sector
* Join an inclusive, experienced team of subject matter experts
* Enjoy a sector‐leading 6 weeks' annual leave and one day anniversary leave

WALGA's Governance and Procurement Team plays a central role in supporting Local Governments across Western Australia with practical, high‐quality advice that strengthens governance, compliance and decision‐making. As the sector's trusted voice on procurement, we provide clarity in complex legislative environments and help our Members navigate their obligations with confidence.

We are seeking a Procurement Specialist to be WALGA's lead expert for all things procurement. This is a specialised role for someone who understands procurement legislation and better practice inside out, and who also has a genuine passion for translating complexity into clear, usable tools and learning experiences.

In this role, you will help shape how procurement is understood and carried out across WA's 139 Local Governments.

You will interpret legislation, develop high‐quality templates, guides and tools, and create and deliver training that lifts capability and professionalism across the sector. Local Government procurement practitioners will look to you to explain legislative requirements, outline better practice, and provide guidance on navigating challenging procurement situations.

About The Role

You will:

* Provide practical, simplified procurement advice to Local Governments, helping them navigate governance, compliance and legislative requirements.
* Support Members to review and strengthen their procurement systems, policies and procedures to reflect contemporary and better practice.
* Develop, refine and maintain procurement templates, guides, tools and online resources to ensure clarity, consistency and sector‐wide uplift.
* Design and maintain procurement training content in partnership with WALGA's Training team, ensuring materials are accurate, current and aligned with adult learning.
* Deliver training, workshops and presentations that build capability and confidence across the sector.
* Coordinate Procurement Network Forums and other sector engagement events and activities.
* Represent WALGA at working groups, stakeholder forums and events as a procurement subject matter expert, strengthening relationships and supporting the sector's continuous improvement.

About You

You will bring:

* Strong practical experience in Local Government procurement.
* A solid understanding of the Local Government Act, Regulations and procurement frameworks.
* Confidence reviewing, interpreting and applying legislation to real‐world scenarios.
* Experience designing and delivering training, workshops or other learning resources.
* Highly developed writing skills, with the ability to produce clear, usable templates, guides and resources.
* Strong interpersonal and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to build trusted relationships across diverse roles and levels.
* A proactive, curious and improvement‐focused mindset.

While a foundational understanding of the Local Government landscape is highly advantageous, we value curiosity and welcome candidates who are eager to learn more and explore how the sector operates.

If you're someone who lives and breathes procurement, enjoys sharing knowledge, and wants to join WALGA's Governance and Procurement team to help make a meaningful difference in the sector, apply now.
