We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced and passionate Design Team Leader to join the Kmart Womenswear Design team, leading the creative vision across Women's Sleepwear, Intimates and Women's Accessories (Bags & Jewellery). This role is perfect for a design leader with exceptional taste level, strong commercial instinct and a passion for creating beautiful product at accessible price points. You will set the creative direction for the category, inspiring your team to deliver coordinated ranges that reflect Kmart's unique handwriting while delighting customers and driving growth.
As a leader within the design team, you will balance strategic vision with hands‐on design, collaborating closely with Merchandise, Technical and Global suppliers to bring trend‐led, customer‐focused product to life.

What you'll be doing Design Vision & Leadership
* Set the creative direction for Women's Sleepwear, Intimates and Accessories, translating global trends into clear seasonal design vision and product strategies.
* Lead and inspire a team of designers to deliver commercial, cohesive and trend-driven ranges that reflect Kmart's brand handwriting.
* Champion a culture of creativity, collaboration and excellence, mentoring designers to grow their capability and confidence.
Trend & Creative Direction
* Identify, interpret and implement global trends and market insights to create desirable product with strong customer appeal.
* Translate trends into clear design direction, colour, print and product opportunities that drive sales.
* Present seasonal trend insights and design vision with compelling storytelling and market validation.
* Maintain a strong aesthetic eye and ability to identify the next commercial trend direction.
Range Architecture & Product Development
* Interpret range architecture to create coordinated, customer-focused collections across Sleepwear, Intimates and Accessories.
* Design and oversee the development of commercial, high-volume product aligned to Kmart's value proposition.
* Collaborate with buyers, technical teams and suppliers to ensure design intent, quality and price targets are achieved.
* Provide clear briefs and direction to overseas designers and suppliers to ensure cohesive outcomes across ranges.
Collaboration
* Work closely with cross‐functional teams including Design, Buying, Technical and Global suppliers to ensure seamless product development.
* Build strong relationships with stakeholders to deliver aligned, commercially successful ranges.
To be successful in this role you will have
* Significant experience in apparel design, ideally across sleepwear, intimates or women's apparel
* Proven leadership experience with the ability to inspire, mentor and guide a design team
* A strong design aesthetic, taste level and eye for detail
* A passion for creating beautiful, trend‐led product at accessible price points
* Strong understanding of trend forecasting and commercial product development
* Confidence presenting creative direction and influencing stakeholders
* High proficiency in Illustrator, Photoshop and Adobe Creative Suite
* Ability to manage multiple projects within a fast‐paced retail environment
* Exceptional communication and collaboration skills
