Summary:

The Senior Brand Manager, Ophthalmology, will be accountable for generating and executing a successful marketing and commercialization strategy that effectively prepares all stakeholders for the launch of our brand. In this role, you will be accountable for building awareness and education of the disease state, developing and leading the promotional programs to drive adoption, interpreting market insights to shape strategy, and working closely with our sales and medical colleagues on implementation and execution.

You will lead and guide the development of strategies consistent with the Medicines Australia code of conduct and in line with Apellis values. By developing a thorough understanding of our customer needs and associated business opportunities through engagement, insights and analysis, you will employ innovative tactics with the right promotional mix to optimize market penetration in this complex disease area.

Working with the Commercial Director, the successful candidate will set and deliver against defined performance based metrics, own and drive an ambitious launch plan, as well as foster collaboration with other key functions at Apellis to ensure enterprise wide success.

Roles and Responsibilities:

* Lead the brand to launch success by driving passion, innovation, adaptability and accountability in our people and in everything we do
* Strategic thinking – display and lead the thinking across the brand team to ensure development of the highest quality marketing plan that leverages market insights to achieve corporate and brand objectives
* Inspire – communicate a clear and inspiring brand vision across the organization and in the external environment, to build excitement and engagement
* Innovate - Shape the market for launch of a first to market product through championing new ideas and new ways of doing things to deliver for customers and patients
* Performance - Closely monitor performance against key metrics, display adaptability and strong decision-making rationale to deliver in line with KPIs and expectations
* Multi-channel -Lead creation and execution of marketing assets that leverage all channels to engage with our audience and deliver the best possible customer experience
* Engage -Close collaboration with strategic partners, sales and medical team, external customers and other stakeholders to evolve our strategy to ensure optimal implementation of messaging, materials and tactical programs
* Knowledge -Be the product champion and steward of the brand by maintaining the highest proficiency in disease state and market knowledge
* Compliance - Ensure adherence to all policies and procedures for compliance, legal, and regulatory, including diligence and management of spend budgets to support ANZ marketing execution

Experience:

* 5+ years of biotech/pharma marketing experience, with robust experience in building and leading marketing strategy
* Pharmaceutical marketing launch experience
* Experience in ophthalmic disease/medical retina is desirable but not essential
* MA accreditation

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

* Clear understanding of how to translate global strategy into affiliate marketing execution with market-moving results
* High energy self-starter with demonstratable excellence in project management, exceptional business acumen and able to prioritize work and manage deadlines
* Demonstrated experience in leading cross-functional teams
* Demonstrated experience in managing complex interactions with senior stakeholders, and able to expertly influence
* Deep understanding of marketing concepts and their application in the setting of healthcare delivery
* A strong commitment to understanding and meeting customer needs
* Proficiency in utilization of data sources to make decisions that guide brand direction
* An entrepreneurial spirit coupled with the drive to embrace innovation, and develop creative but well-reasoned solutions to business challenges
* Demonstrated integrity on the job, including an understanding of relevant rules and regulations
* Strong communication skills with a knack for storytelling
* Ability to work independently, use your initiative, and confidence to make decisions in an ambiguous environment
* Effective working knowledge of key business tool, programs, and platforms (ex: MS Office apps, CRM, etc.)

Ability to travel as required, both nationally and internationally.
