We are seeking to establish a pool of Special Needs Education Assistants for permanent and fixed term, full-time and part-time vacancies which may arise during the 2026 school year. Appointments may be offered at any time for vacancies that commence during this period.
Established in 1913, Nedlands Primary School has seen many prominent West Australians pass through its ranks, forming just part of our solid history. In addition to the PP - Year 6 program operating on the main school site, the school operates a Kindergarten program off-site at the Nedlands Park Early Learning Centre, about 1km from the main school.
As an Special Needs Education Assistant at our school you will ideally have excellent interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to collaborate well with the teacher, leadership team, and external agencies, to create and maintain a supportive, inclusive education program to meet the specific needs of the students. You would assist the teacher in the delivery of planned education programs, including the operation of computers and digital technologies, plan, and implement individual student or small group programs or demonstrations.
Also, when required, the Special Needs Education Assistant will ideally provide feedback on education and therapy programs and participates in the evaluation process relating to the achievement of goals in special education. The suitable applicants should use excellent interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to collaborate well with the teacher to create and maintain a supportive, inclusive education program to meet the specific needs of the students. Suitable applicants will ideally be highly organised with excellent initiative to assist the teacher with the general care and wellbeing of individual and small groups of students, and the maintenance of the learning environment.

- Demonstrated good organisational skills that will assist in the delivery and development of effective education programs to students and subsequent feedback to teaching professionals or psychologists.
- Demonstrated ability to assist teachers or therapists in implementing educational programs, including special education and, should this be a requirement of the position, occupational and/or physiotherapy programs.
- Demonstrated knowledge of health and physical disabilities in students and adolescents.
- Demonstrated ability to assist with general health and well-being of students.
