Southern Cross Care QLD has an opportunity for a part-time Gardener/Maintenance Officer to join our SCCQ family at the Caloundra Residential Aged Care Home in Little Mountain.

About the role
In this important role, as a Gardener/Maintenance Officer, you will work as part of a team with the Residential Manager to ensure the general maintenance work around this home and grounds is carried out as required. A friendly sociable personality coupled with empathy and compassion for the elderly will make you a good fit for this role.
Responsibilities
* Regular communal areas checking to ensure a tidy and well-maintained home to support all activities.
* Maintenance of up-to-date inventory of all equipment including adherence to preventative maintenance program of all equipment.
* Coordination of external contractors required to attend servicing requirements for equipment.
* Horticultural and ground development, maintenance and monitoring.
* Re-planting of garden beds and maintenance to maximise seasonal conditions.
* Trees and shrubs pruning.
* Mowing of lawns, edging, fertilising and weeding.
* Clearing and removal of garden refuse.
* Paths, drains and edge maintenance and repair when needed.
* Fences and retaining walls maintenance.
* Undertaking of any necessary routine repair work and maintenance.
* Obtaining quotes for any necessary works and repairs to be undertaken by outside service providers in accordance with company procurement policies and procedures.
What you will bring
* Maintenance and/or Trade qualification (desirable)
* Previous experience and knowledge in general and commercial maintenance
* Previous experience managing contractor relationships is highly desirable
* Demonstrated ability to work from manuals and drawings
* Demonstrated problem solving and a "can do" attitude
* Exceptional people and interpersonal skills
* Well-developed written and verbal communication skills
* Strong decision-making and time management skills
* Ability to work as part of a team but also be capable of working autonomously
