Primary objective
Provide a high level of leadership and management to the Engineering Services team to deliver the repairs and maintenance program and
any assigned minor works and capital works projects to the Tennant Creek Hospital, as well as associated health facilities across the Barkly
Region. Delivery of services includes the 24-hour operational management of critical building assets and their electrical, hydraulic and
mechanical engineering systems essential to the provision of medical services.
Key duties and responsibilities
1. Provide high level leadership and management to the Engineering Services Team and manage the program and project delivery at the
Tennant Creek Hospital and other associated health facilities across the Barkly Region.
2. Manage all phases of client project delivery, including all internal and external stakeholder reporting requirements. This includes
traveling to project sites and conducting relevant stakeholder and contractor meetings and establishing and maintaining excellent
working relationships and communicating effectively.
1. Direct the establishment and administration of contracts to ensure compliance with departmental policies, procedures and Northern
Territory Government legislation and construction standards are maintained.
1. Undertake the role of Superintendent's Representative on a variety of client agency projects, responsible to the Superintendent and
provide regular reporting of program and project status.
1. Provide project leadership to Project Management staff, ensuring client project requirements are delivered successfully and meet
budget, time and quality targets.
1. Ensure the client is involved in key decision making and is fully informed at all stages of projects, including events which may affect
completion dates, costs or function of the facility/project.
1. Carry out all duties in accordance with Departmental WHS, EEO and environmental guidelines.

2. Tertiary qualification or other trade qualification related to this position's area of specialisation, or equivalent experience directly
relevant to the position.
2. Demonstrated high-level ability to lead, manage, advise and motivate a diverse group of multi-discipline teams on technical and para-
professional matters, with ability to be flexible, manage pressure and change, and meet deadlines.
3. Well-developed skills and knowledge of program analysis, evaluation and reporting, and IT systems.
4. High level oral and written communication skills including the ability to effectively consult and collaborate and build strong professional
working relationships with colleagues, external clients, the community and industry representatives, while considering remote cross-
cultural issues affecting the undertaking of projects.
1. Extensive experience and knowledge in contract administration and management, including supervision and monitoring of contract
conditions.
1. High level knowledge of building industry, design, construction and maintenance techniques and relevant legislation and standards
together with a sound knowledge of project management and Government procurement processes.
1. Current Northern Territory Driver's Licence, Ochre Card, White Card and High-Risk Work Licence for Standard Boiler Operations, or
the ability to obtain.
Desirable
1. Recognised qualification in Engineering, Contract Management, Project Management or similar.
2. Sound knowledge of business management and business drivers in a commercial environment.
