About the Role
We are seeking an experienced and passionate Assistant Director with a Bachelor of Education (Early Childhood) to support the Director in leading our dedicated team of educators at Gingerbread House Occasional Care Centre.
This is a hands-on leadership role with a strong focus on quality practice, compliance, team development, and meaningful relationships with children and families. You will work closely with the Director to oversee daily operations, support staff, and ensure the service delivers high-quality, inclusive early learning experiences.

About Us
Gingerbread House Occasional Care Centre is managed by Northern Rivers Children's Services (NRCS), a proud community-based, not-for-profit organisation providing high-quality services for children and families across the Northern Rivers.
Our centre caters for up to 43 children on a permanent and casual basis and is located close to Lismore Base Hospital, offering accessible care for families working in health and community services.
Key Responsibilities
As the Assistant Director, you will:
* Support the Director in the day-to-day management and leadership of the service
* Ensure compliance with the National Quality Framework (NQF) and regulations
* Maintain educator-to-child ratios and manage rosters
* Support programming and practice aligned with the EYLF
* Build strong relationships with families and the local community
* Mentor and support educators to deliver high-quality outcomes
* Assist with administrative, operational, and quality improvement processes
* Promote a positive, collaborative workplace culture
Essential Criteria
* Bachelor of Education (Early Childhood) – ACECQA approved
* Minimum 2–3 years' experience in a leadership role within early childhood
* Eligible to be an Authorised Person for daily operations
* Passion for working with children aged 0–6 years
* Demonstrated ability to lead, motivate and support teams
* Strong knowledge of the EYLF and National Quality Framework
* Experience developing and implementing high-quality educational programs
* Proven ability to build positive professional relationships with families and staff
* Experience reviewing and implementing service policies and procedures
* Sound knowledge of licensing and regulatory requirements
* Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills
* Strong organisational, time management and problem-solving skills
* Sound financial and administrative capability
* Current First Aid, Asthma and Anaphylaxis certificates
* Current Working With Children Check
* National Police Check (no older than 6 months)
* Child Protection Certificate
