We are seeking an experienced Fire Protection Electrical Estimator to join our Projects and Minor Works team. You will prepare accurate, competitive estimates for the electrical components of fire protection systems and support projects from concept through to delivery.
This role requires strong technical knowledge of Building Fire Safety Regulations, the National Construction Code, AS 1670 fire detection and alarm systems, AS 2293 emergency lighting, and associated electrical infrastructure, in line with Australian Standards and Queensland regulations.
Key Responsibilities
* Review tender documentation, drawings and specifications for projects and minor works.
* Interpret fire protection electrical requirements to meet Australian Standards, building codes and customer specifications.
* Prepare detailed cost estimates, budgets and proposals for new installations, upgrades, minor works and maintenance projects.
* Liaise with suppliers and subcontractors to obtain competitive quotations and ensure compliance.
* Attend site inspections and assess site conditions for accurate scoping.
* Collaborate with project managers, engineers and design teams to refine scope and value‐engineer solutions.
* Support bid submissions, tender presentations and customer negotiations.
* Maintain a database of costs, suppliers and historical projects for benchmarking.
* Ensure all estimating activities align with WHS policies and quality assurance processes.
Skills & Qualifications
* Proven experience in electrical estimating for fire protection systems (minimum 5 years preferred).
* Strong knowledge of Australian Standards (e.g. AS 1670) and Queensland Building and Fire Safety Regulations.
* Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings, schematics and tender documents.
* Proficiency with estimating software and Microsoft Office.
* High attention to detail, strong numerical accuracy and solid organisational skills.
* Strong communication skills to work effectively with clients, consultants and internal teams.
* Current driver's licence and willingness to travel for work.
