 
        
        Based in Toowoomba, the Deputy Principal Solicitorsupports the Legal Practice Director in the day-to-day supervision and operation of our legal team, providing advice and casework services across a diverse range of funded programs including generalist legal services, elder law, tenancy advice, and health justice partnerships.Provide high-quality legal advice and lead complex caseworkMentor and supervise staff solicitors and volunteers, using active matters as learning opportunitiesOversee team operations including casework approval, advice checking, KPI and workload management, ensure regional coverage, manage program delivery and funder reportingAssume Nominated Person responsibilities, and higher duties when necessaryPromote compliance, manage legal risk, and a develop a positive team cultureRepresent Tasc at stakeholder forums, legal partnerships, and networksLead and oversee law reform and community legal engagement activities in a way that promotes our vision, mission, and values.The personThe ability to consider your work through the lens of client impact is essential. 
You will be eligible to hold an unrestricted PractisingCertificate and have relevant post-admission experience, including leading complex casework (preferably 5+ years). 
Current eligibility for Blue and Yellow Cards (mandatory criminal history screening)Demonstrated experience supervising, mentoring and developing legal staff and volunteersExcellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a positive, adaptable, and collaborative leadership styleAbility to travel within the region as required to support remote offices and outreach clinics.You'll also bring professionalism, adaptability, and empathy, along with the ability to lead by example and contribute to a trauma-informed, culturally safe, and inclusive workplace.
