As the Audience & Growth Director of Entertainment, Audio, and News360, you will drive strategic growth by blending data storytelling and analytical thinking. This high‑impact role focuses on increasing direct traffic and engaged reach across all multi‑platform content. You must leverage insights, sharp news judgement, and technical skills to engage new and existing audiences.

Reporting to the Head of Entertainment, Multi‑platform Audio and News360, you will lead acquisition and deep engagement efforts, implementing strategic innovation. Expertise in stakeholder management is key, liaising with editors across the wider business to maximise content discoverability. You'll be passionate about using data to anticipate audience trends and analysing performance to ensure the team is making insight‑informed decisions.


Key Responsibilities

Innovate, evolve and execute a strategy to grow discoverability of content across Entertainment, Multi‑platform Audio and News360, and secure engaged reach for editorial brands and teams.

Ensure comprehensive audience data is kept, monitor performance across all platforms, and liaise with editorial and commercial leaders to provide and refine this data on a regular basis.

Work with key stakeholders across Entertainment, Multi‑platform Audio and News360 to produce a multi‑platform content distribution strategy that amplifies high‑performing and original content for video, digital, audio, social (and print), utilising strong knowledge of SEO, sell angles and optimal publication times and dates, as well as highlighting key opportunities and strategy for resells to drive engagement and audience retention.

Attend daily news conference meetings on behalf of Entertainment, Multi‑platform Audio and News360 and liaise with relevant news desks and digital editors across the wider business to keep key stakeholders informed of long‑lead and short‑lead content and daily news lists, highlighting key opportunities to harness direct traffic, engaged reach and new audience acquisition.

Identify opportunities to amplify content across our platforms and publications, basing your decisions on audience insights and analytics. This is a vital part of our digital media strategy and key to driving a sustainable and growing audience – now and in the future.

Drive optimisation of discoverability of content off‑platform (e.g., newsletters, social media, etc.). Monitor and interpret content performance, delivering feedback and suggestions to relevant stakeholders.

Provide daily analytics and analyse performance reporting to the Head Of Entertainment, Multi‑platform Audio and News360 and content directors within the department as well as commercial teams where required.

Continually be on the lookout for original avenues and unexpected arenas through which to acquire, retain and grow new audiences.

Initiate and implement strategies to grow direct traffic and engagement and engaged audio/video/multi‑platform reach for all content produced by the Entertainment, Multi‑platform Audio and News360 team.


Who are you?

10+ Years Experience in media, including digital/multi‑platform newsrooms and audience research/marketing analytics.

Essential Audio Experience: Previous background in audio or commercial radio is required.

Proven News Sense: Impeccable ability to identify key issues, package content, and change tone/voice across multiple brands.

Content Optimization Expert: Track record in curating, optimizing, and distributing compelling multi‑platform content with strong knowledge of SEO and paid/organic growth strategies.

Advanced Analytics Skills: 10+ years of experience translating complex data (quantitative research, audience analysis) into actionable strategies.

Tool Proficiency: Experienced with survey and data tools including Excel, SQL, and Google Analytics.

Digital Marketing Acumen: Strong understanding of principles, strategies, and experience with social media, email marketing, and paid advertising.

Engagement Focused: Ability to optimise compelling headlines, captions, and titles for digital, video, audio, and social formats.

Cross‑Functional Leader: Successfully led a team and collaborated across multiple departments (editorial, sales, production).

Exceptional Collaborator: Strong people skills, excellent communication, and stakeholder management comfortable presenting to all levels.

Strategic & Driven: Proven track record of delivering measurable audience growth through executed campaigns.

Adaptable & Proactive: Thrives in a fast‑paced, "always on" news cycle, demonstrating strong planning, analytical, and problem‑solving abilities.

Journalism Passion: Deep understanding of and passion for journalism, digital storytelling, and content innovation.

Independent Worker: Ability to work independently and as part of a team, managing multiple initiatives simultaneously.
