Events ACT is seeking a dynamic and experienced Assistant Director, Operations and Programming to join our team. This is your opportunity to join the team responsible for the operational planning and delivery of some of Canberra's most iconic public events — from Floriade to Enlighten Festival, Canberra Balloon Spectacular, New Year's Eve celebrations, and more.
As the Assistant Director you will coordinate the Operations and Programming teams' key tasks required to turn creative concepts into well-executed realities. From site mapping to supplier engagement and coordination, volunteer engagement to program management, transport planning to emergency management — you will be across it all to ensure everything runs smoothly, safely and on budget.
You will bring:
* Demonstrated comprehensive experience in delivery of large outdoor events or suitable transferrable skills.
* Knowledge of event best practice, project management skills.
* The ability to juggle competing priorities under pressure in an everchanging environment with a calm, solutions-focused mindset.
* A passion for public events and community impact.
* Experience in WHS, risk management, and operational logistics.
* Financial management skills.

Eligibility/Other Requirements:
* Experience in delivering large outdoor events
* Ability to work over public holidays, weekends and evenings during key event periods.
* Driver's license C Class
* Background / security clearance checks may be conducted
* This position does not require a pre-employment medical

A Merit Pool will be established from this selection process and will be used to fill vacancies over the next 12 months.
Please note, this position will be moving to a new workplace designed for activity-based working (ABW). Under ABW arrangements, officers will not have a designated workstation/desk. Opportunities for flexible working options could include hybrid working, being a combination of working from home, designated office based and FlexiSpace working locations across the ACT and flexible start and finish times.
