Fisheries Management Officer - Administrative Officer 6:

The Role

This position is suited to an individual with experience in fisheries management or a similar natural resource management field. As a
Fisheries Management Officer
, you will develop policy and advice to Government, key client groups and the public on the sustainable management of aquatic resources and fisheries in the NT.

You will also coordinate financial and administrative activities for specific projects and oversee fisheries management programs with minimal supervision.

The role sits within the Wild Harvest Fisheries unit and works as part of a multidisciplinary team comprising fisheries managers, research scientists, technical and data service officers within the Fisheries Division.

Key duties

* Develop and implement policies to ensure the sustainable use of the Northern Territory's fish and aquatic resources.
* Coordinate and monitor projects, ensuring outcomes align with legislative, departmental and government objectives.
* Research, analyse, and interpret data to contribute to evidence-based policy advice and management decisions.
* Prepare reports, briefings, and correspondence for senior staff, stakeholders, and government decision-makers.
* Engage and collaborate with a diverse range of stakeholders, including industry, community, and Indigenous groups, to support project and policy outcomes.
* Contribute to team planning, mentoring, and knowledge sharing to support capability development within the work unit.

About you

To be successful in this role at this designation, you will need to bring project management experience, demonstrated analytical skills, demonstrated ability to work effectively with a range of stakeholders. You will need to demonstrate well-developed written communication skills and demonstrated ability to work independently to achieve shared goals.

Fisheries Management Officer - Administration Officer 5:

The Role

This position is suited to an individual with experience in natural resource management, supported by relevant postgraduate studies, preferably with a focus on fisheries or aquatic environments. As a Fisheries Management Officer, you will assist with the development of policies and advice to Government, key client groups and the public on the sustainable management of aquatic resources in the NT.

In this role, you will support a range of fisheries management projects and programs, contributing to effective decision-making and management outcomes.

The role sits within the Wild Harvest Fisheries unit and works as part of a multidisciplinary team comprising fisheries managers, research scientists, technical and data service officers within the Fisheries Division.
