Mona is seeking an experienced Head of Creative to lead and shape the organisation's visual expression across its diverse cultural and commercial activities.
This is a senior, hands-on role for a design leader with strong judgement, a refined aesthetic, and the ability to deliver work of substance at scale. Reporting to the Communications Director, the Head of Creative is responsible for setting creative direction across Mona's house of brands while remaining deeply involved in the work itself.
The scope is unusually broad—spanning museum exhibitions, hospitality, accommodation, wine, beer, and publishing—and demands a designer who can bring clarity, coherence, and ambition to complex and unconventional briefs.
As Head of Creative, you will:
* Lead and mentor a multidisciplinary creative team (designers, content producers, and a copywriter), providing clear direction, feedback, and professional development.
* Set and oversee creative and content direction across all visual communications for Mona and its associated brands, including Moorilla, Domaine A, Moo Brew, Manky Sally's, Frying Pan and others.
* Work hands-on across a wide range of design outputs, contributing directly to major projects and setting the creative benchmark for the team.
* Act as custodian of brand identity and design integrity, ensuring consistency, quality, and rigour across all channels and touchpoints.
* Collaborate closely with Marketing, Digital, and senior stakeholders to translate strategic objectives into considered, compelling creative work.
* Work in partnership with the Communications Director to shape and evolve Mona's overarching creative strategy.
* Manage multiple projects concurrently, balancing creative ambition with timelines, budgets, and operational realities.
* Identify opportunities to refine creative processes, improve systems, and elevate the overall standard of output.
About you
You are an accomplished creative leader with a strong design foundation and a measured, confident approach to decision-making. You are comfortable carrying responsibility, giving direction, and remaining accountable for the work.
You will bring:
* Significant experience in a senior creative role such as Art Director, Creative Director, or equivalent
* Exceptional visual design and typographic skills, demonstrated through a portfolio of high-quality, conceptually strong work.
* Experience delivering integrated campaigns across print, digital, and web.
* Strong strategic thinking and problem-solving capability.
* Proven experience managing and mentoring creative teams, along with internal and external stakeholder management.
* The ability to articulate and defend creative decisions clearly and constructively.
* High proficiency in relevant design tools and workflow tools including Asana.
* A genuine interest in art, music, and contemporary culture.
* A tertiary qualification in Design, Fine Arts, or a related discipline (preferred).
