Personnel Area: City Planning and Economic Development Services Branch: 2032 Host City, Global Relations and Economic Partnerships Salary Range: Band 6 $116,089 - $128,453 Superannuation (Remuneration stated is for full-time positions and effective from 08 October 2025) Work type: Temporary Full-time Duration: 12 months Location: Brisbane Square Our Business City Planning and Economic Development Services is responsible for supporting local businesses, facilitating economic growth, planning for sustainable growth and delivering permitting services. Our Branch Manages and coordinates the inputs into the Brisbane 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games, working with all Games partners and across the organisation to maximise opportunities, and optimise the planning and delivery of the Games to get the best outcomes for the city. We provide support to the Lord Mayor and Chief Executive Officer in the roles within the Brisbane 2032 Organising Committee and leadership groups. The Role As Senior Officer Economic Growth and Development, you will undertake economic development tasks, activities and projects that support small businesses to develop skills to enhance and achieve economic growth. You will research and procure training/workshops for areas such as managing cashflow, social media marketing and business planning, just to name a few. You will liaise and build effective working relationships with local business owners and precinct groups to support activities focused on business development. As part of your role, you will also develop internal networks and alliances between Council branches and across divisions and develop external networks and partnerships with small business owners and other representatives to achieve project objectives. To be successful in this role you will have: demonstrated experience in a field relevant to economic development success in building and maintaining collaborative internal/external stakeholder working relationships research skills that inform activities and decision making experience working with multiple projects highly developed communication, interpersonal and written communication, and presentation skills.
