Davies Stewart is seeking a dedicated Team Member, Civil Maintenance to join the outdoor workforce in a number of respected local councils in Adelaide, South Australia.
Davies Stewart has multiple opportunities located in the western, eastern and northern suburbs of Adelaide, South Australia.
These are temporary roles (casual) ranging between 3 to 6 months in length with the opportunity to go permanent.
The Civil Team Member rolerequires strong teamwork and the ability to work independently, ensuring the City's roads, footpaths, and drainage systems are safe and functional. Your day-to-day responsibilities will be working within a small, multi-skilled team, you will undertake a wide range of proactive and reactive tasks crucial to the City's civil infrastructure.
Your responsibilities will include:
* Road & Footpath Repairs: Executing essential maintenance such as pothole patching, road pavement repairs, kerb and watertable reconstruction, and footpath paving.
* Civil Construction Works: Working with bitumen, asphalt, concrete, and paving blocks, including base preparation, placing forms, laying, screeding, finishing, and compacting materials.
* Infrastructure Installation: Removing and installing road and street signs, street furniture (e.g., benches), and public litter bins.
* Safety & Amenity: Responding to safety concerns, including clearing obstructions, removing illegally dumped hard refuse, and cleaning up minor spills.
* Plant Operation: Safely utilising machinery like vibrating plates, rammers, concrete cutters, truck-mounted cranes, and associated hand tools.
* Compliance: Undertaking work zone traffic management setup and managing Dial Before You Dig requirements at each work site.
You will work closely with a Leading Worker, exhibiting self-motivation and the ability to resolve civil maintenance matters with minimal supervision.
Skills & Experience:
Required Skills (Essential):
* Licences: Current Driver's Licence and an MR (Medium Rigid) Truck Licence is mandatory.
* Knowledge: High level of knowledge of best practice in civil works and maintenance
* Experience: Proven experience working in a team environment.
* Personal Attributes: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, strong numeracy and literacy, and the demonstrated ability to take initiative and work effectively under minimal supervision.
* The ability to obtain and maintain a National Criminal Record (Police) Clearance and a DHS Working With Children Clearance is essential.
Highly Desirable Skills (Advantageous):
* Trade certificate in a relevant field.
* Work Zone Traffic Management Certificate.
* Competencies in operating plant such as skid steer loader (LS), front end loader (LL), backhoe, or forklift.
* Practical skills across minor concrete, bitumen, and block paving repair, minor construction, and stormwater drainage maintenance.
