The Role
The Group Environment & Sustainability Manager is responsible for leading Millennium Services Group's environmental and sustainability strategy across Australia and New Zealand. Reporting into the Cheif Risk and Compliance Officer, this role provides strategic leadership, governance, and operational oversight of environmental performance, climate reporting, waste and organics programs, green cleaning initiatives, and sustainability integration across operations, tenders, and client engagements.
Key Responsibilities
* Develop, implement and continuously improve Millennium's environmental and sustainability strategy.
* Ensure compliance with mandatory sustainability reporting obligations in accordance with Chapter 2M of the Corporations Act 2001
* Establish carbon baselines, emissions methodologies and data governance frameworks.
* Align reporting with AASB S1/S2, GRI, SASB, and client sustainability requirements.
* Ensure activities align with Millennium's Integrated Management System and applicable ISO standards.
* Support compliance with relevant legislation, client requirements and internal policies.
* Assist with audits, assurance activities and continuous improvement initiatives.
* Oversee sustainability reporting, dashboards and internal performance tracking.
* Lead waste diversion, organics and contamination reduction initiatives.
* Manage SoilFood, BinTracker and contractor programs nationally.
* Develop SOPs, reporting snapshots and client-ready sustainability outputs.
* Lead sustainability inputs into tenders, proposals and capability statements.
* Maintain environmental risk registers and control documentation.
* Work closely with Risk & Compliance to ensure governance alignment.
About You
* Proven experience leading environmental and sustainability programs in a complex organisation.
* Strong technical understanding of emissions reporting, waste, environmental data and assurance.
* Demonstrated experience with ESG and sustainability reporting frameworks.
* Ability to manage large volumes of data with precision and audit readiness.
* Strong stakeholder engagement, influencing and communication skills.
* Experience supporting tenders and client-facing sustainability initiatives is preferred.
* Highly organised with strong documentation, governance and project management capability.
* Relevant tertiary qualification in sustainability, environment, science, engineering or related field.
* Minimum 5 years' experience in sustainability, ESG or environmental management roles.
* Demonstrated experience working with ESG reporting platforms and data systems.
