GV Storage is a large cold-storage facility designed with state-of-the-art DCA equipment across 51 cool-rooms specialising in cold-storing a range of horticulture products, predominantly Apples & Pears.
All cold-storage rooms are based on one site.

As a member of the GV Storage Team, you are a critical link in the cold-storage supply chain.
The facility operates 12 months of the year with seasonal influx of high-volume receivals and non-seasonal periods which requires a strong knowledge for cold-storage monitoring.
About the Role
As GV Storage continues to grow, the growth journey has created the opportunity for a Cold Storage Operator & Handler to take the lead at our high-volume specialised cold-storage facility to be responsible for ensuring the fruit quality is maintained during the cold-storage supply chain phase.
This is not just a labour-based role.
The Cold Storage Operator & Handler role at GV Storage is a senior operational leader role – a trusted decision-maker in which your knowledge, decision making & expertise will be required to assist in:
Ensuring fruit is received at optimal condition and temperature,
Ensuring the fruit is loaded in the rooms for the best quality outcomes,
Ensuring the cold-storage rooms are locked following strict and safe procedures,
Ensuring the fruit is monitored daily for the best quality outcomes, understanding cold-storage temperatures, fan operations, and humidifier operations,
Ensuring the cold-storage rooms are un-locked and released following strict and safe procedures,
Reporting to higher management daily of how the cold-storage rooms are reading and maintaining via daily monitor routines,
Ensuring all cold-storage room servicing is up to date whilst building and maintaining a strong relationship with Refrigeration Staff so that you are in sync with the daily operations of the facility.
You will play a pivotal role in creating an environment by demonstrating and showcasing the importance of maintaining high quality cold-storage standards and performance from start to finish through the cold-supply chain cycle.
Internal support from higher Management to ensure you are guided through out.
Experience and qualifications
Proven experience within the operational and handling of commercial cold-storage, this will be a bonus if you have dealt with cold-storing Pome fruit previously,
Expertise in strategic thinking by understanding cold-storage, translating the importance of procedure from receiving the fruit to cold-storing the fruit (farm-gate to cold-storage),
Experience in improving efficiency and quality outcomes of cold-storing fresh produce from farm-gate,
Proven ability to assess & manage resources efficiently – particularly dealing with cold-storage technology (Dynamic Controlled Atmosphere) and external cold-storage mechanical services,
A leader by nature, with a proven ability to teach team members and ensure they follow procedures under your guidance with the ability to lean on when decision making is required.
