Job Announcement for Center Director in Australia

We are seeking a highly qualified Center Director to lead our programs in environmental science, marine biology, or related disciplines at SIT Australia's Cairns-based location.


About the Role

The Center Director will oversee academic quality, operations, and student services, managing a diverse portfolio of experiential learning programs. This role requires a terminal degree in a relevant field, minimum 3 years of experience in academic program management, and fluency in English.


Key Responsibilities

1. Academic Program Management: Oversee curriculum design, teach one course per semester, and guide student research projects and internships, ensuring alignment with SIT standards.
2. Student Services: Provide academic advising, cross-cultural guidance, and student well-being support, collaborating with SIT's Office of Student Health, Safety, and Well-Being.
3. Operations & Compliance: Manage center operations, finances, and local partnerships, ensuring compliance with local laws and SIT policies.
4. Human Resources: Recruit, supervise, and support faculty and staff, fostering an inclusive and collaborative work environment.
5. Health, Safety & Security: Implement SIT health and safety protocols, act as primary contact for student emergencies, and maintain contingency plans.
6. Community Engagement: Build partnerships with local organizations, promote SIT's mission, and integrate community-based learning into the curriculum.
7. Marketing: Support the production of SIT promotional materials by providing updates, content, and other information as requested.

The nature of this role may require irregular hours to deal with emergencies, and you must remain in-country and physically at the program site or with the student group during the duration of the program.

Qualifications

* Terminal degree in environmental science, marine biology, conservation biology, earth sciences, sustainability, or related field.
* Minimum 3 years of experience in academic program management, program administration, experiential education, or international higher education.
* Fluency in English.
* Demonstrated commitment to inclusive education and student well-being.
* Legal right to work and reside in Australia.
* Knowledge of Australia and Oceania ecosystems preferred.
