Kinexus is supporting a client in a search for a role to lead a multi-disciplinary engineering team delivering high-performance communications systems for national and international customers. Our client develops products and offers solutions in the wireless communications domain, with a focus on secure and resilient communications for the defence industry and other critical public services.
We are seeking a Software Engineering Manager with 10+ years of experience in embedded software engineering and team leadership. This role suits a leader who is technically capable and able to solve complex problems in secure communications and defence-aligned sectors.
Key Responsibilities:
* Lead a multidisciplinary team of 10-15 embedded software engineers focused on the delivery of secure, high-availability communications platforms.
* Oversee software design, integration, and testing activities across multiple concurrent projects.
* Drive project planning, resourcing, and staff development in alignment with long-term growth objectives.
* Support technical engagement customers, including project management and pre-sales input.
* Maintain engineering quality by promoting best practices in documentation, tooling, and delivery standards.
About You:
* Experience: 10+ years in software engineering, with experience delivering embedded software solutions for industries such as defence or manufacturing (or similar industries).
* Technical Capability: Background in developing or managing systems involving wireless communication technologies and embedded platforms.
* Leadership: Proven experience leading technical teams of 10-15 in a fast-paced, project-driven setting.
* Qualifications: Degree-qualified in a relevant field such as Electronics, Telecommunications, or Computer Science.
* Communication: Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to interface confidently with technical teams and customers.
