WA College Of Agriculture - Harvey (WACOA – Harvey) is seeking to appoint three dedicated and enthusiastic Residential Supervisors to join the team. The positions are all part time and total 2.2 FTE. The College will negotiate with successful applicants to establish preferred fraction for each with gender balance considered.

In line with supervision requirements within the residential facilities, the College employs male and female staff to ensure a balance of both genders in the roster.

This role has subsidized on-site accommodation available to the successful applicant/s should they require accommodation to take up the position.

The Role

Residential Supervisors are responsible for the day-to-day care of 15 to 18 year old students outside of school hours including weekends. They must be able to work with colleagues following well established systems and procedures to ensure appropriate supervision of large groups of students and to work with parents and staff to coordinate care needs for students. Excellent communication skills and the ability to work as part of a team are essential.

Residential Supervisors plan and organise activities in keeping with the Department's excursion policies and support students to be prepared for the learning program at the college. They are responsible for maintaining discipline and behaviour standards and assisting with student health needs in accordance with Departmental and school policy. The Residential Supervisor liaises with other areas of the College through line management in the provision of out of school hour activities. This includes the supervision of sporting and recreational activities, residential facilities (example; dormitory, dining room) and the management of students' residential timetables.

Residential Supervisors work a variety of shifts during after school hours and on weekends and public holidays. These include sleep shifts where the staff member sleeps in duty room accommodation to be immediately available in the night. These also may include active night shifts. To compensate for the range of shift types, Residential Supervisors are paid a 40% loading on top of base salary. Total hours are annualised and typically Residential Supervisors are not rostered during term holiday breaks.

About the School

WACOA – Harvey is co-educational for students in Years 10, 11 and 12. As a specialist Agriculture and related trades training school, students come from across Western Australia with most boarding on site. Students apply to attend the College for the real-life learning environment and with a genuine interest in our programs and what these can do for their future job prospects. As a result, our students choose to be at the College and want to learn.

The College is located at Wokalup, 8kms south of the Harvey town centre, on a 900ha farm operating a number of agricultural enterprises run on a semi commercial basis which provide students with real life working experiences. The College also operates a significant Trades centre where students are engaged in programs from the Vocational Education and Training (VET) sector.

Graduates of the College are highly employable and enjoy exceptional levels employment and further study. A university bridging program delivered at the College enables a tertiary pathway for those students interested.

Harvey is a 1.5-hour drive south from Perth, a 20-minute drive to the coast, and a 40-minute drive to the city of Bunbury. The area is well supported with a range of sporting and recreation opportunities, schooling options, shopping and medical services. It is a great place to live.
