Your new role
As an APS6 Financial Reporting Officer, you'll play a pivotal role in the Departmental Reporting Team within the Financial Reporting and Treasury Section. This team is responsible for preparing monthly and annual financial statements, maintaining accounting policies, and providing financial expertise to internal stakeholders.
Your key responsibilities will include:
* Preparing monthly financial reports for submission to the Department of Finance.
* Completing reconciliations for balance sheet items and supporting soft close processes.
* Developing annual financial statements, notes, lead sheets, and working papers.
* Responding to ANAO audit queries and drafting accounting position papers.
* Advising on complex accounting issues and contributing to policy development.
* Representing the team in finance-related meetings and driving continuous improvement initiatives.

What you'll need to succeed
To thrive in this role, you'll bring:
* Strong understanding of public sector financial frameworks, including PGPA Act and Australian Accounting Standards.
* Proven experience in financial accounting and audit coordination.
* High-level analytical and problem-solving skills with exceptional attention to detail.
* Excellent communication skills to present complex financial information clearly.
* Ability to manage competing priorities and work independently.
* Tertiary qualifications in accounting, finance, or commerce (CPA/CA highly desirable).
* Experience with CBMS, TechnologyOne, and advanced Excel skills will be highly regarded.
* Australian citizenship with current active Baseline Clearance
