To lead the maintenance function hands‐on, performing the full range of maintenance fitting duties while taking responsibility for planning, coordination, and supervision of maintenance activities across the plant. The role ensures plant equipment, packaging lines, and infrastructure supporting powder and liquid product manufacturing are maintained to the highest standard of safety, reliability, and efficiency. The expectation is that the majority of time is spent on the tools, with supervision, planning, and administrative responsibilities fulfilled in addition.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
* Perform planned, predictive, and corrective maintenance on all plant equipment, including machinery used in powder and liquid production, packaging lines, and site infrastructure and buildings
* Diagnose and repair mechanical, pneumatic, and hydraulic faults, providing a high level of trade skill and problem‐solving capability
* Assist with setup, changeover, and commissioning of packaging line machinery
* Supervise, support, and mentor the maintenance fitter(s), ensuring work is carried out safely, correctly, and to standard
* Allocate daily and weekly tasks to maintenance team members based on priority and skill
* Plan and schedule preventive and predictive maintenance activities to minimise production downtime
* Ensure all work orders, maintenance records, and parts usage are accurately completed in the CMMS
* Manage spare parts inventory, including identifying critical spares, raising purchase requisitions, and controlling stock levels
* Prepare and present maintenance reports covering equipment performance, downtime, and maintenance KPIs as required
* Assist with budget inputs, maintenance cost tracking, and justification of maintenance expenditure

* Attention to detail and an awareness of the importance of consistency and accuracy in a manufacturing and maintenance environment
* Ability to communicate in a mature and cooperative manner
* Literacy and numeric skills to complete maintenance documentation
* Physical capacity to undertake manual handling
* Safety conscious and follow all safety procedures of the role
What You Bring
* Related training or trade qualifications in metal trades, fitting, machining or engineering related discipline
* Minimum 3 years' experience in a maintenance role within a manufacturing environment, preferably with FMCG type machinery
* Team leader or supervisory experience
* Familiarity with industrial environments and the ability to safely operate plant and equipment including electrical, and pneumatically controlled machinery
* Ability to analyse and diagnose system/machine issues
* Experience with PLC controlled machines
* Experience with safe maintenance principles and practices
* Demonstrate ability in carrying out basic mechanical repairs i.e., drilling and tapping, mechanical alignment, oxy and acetylene operation, and parts replacement
