Population and Community Health (PaCH) is part of South Eastern Sydney Local Health District.
PaCH provides community health services that give care to individuals, families and carers, as well as population health services that focus on the whole community or key groups within the community.
PaCH's services are provided at the District's hospitals, community-based facilities including child and family health centres, community health centres and specialist clinics. We work with other service providers across South Eastern Sydney Local Health District, including hospitals and mental health services.

The Role

The Senior Speech Pathologist, Brighter Beginnings Preschool Checks Program, has a recognised clinical speciality within paediatric speech pathology in providing screening, assessment and early intervention services and support to children referred to the Brighter Beginnings Health and Development Checks in Preschool Program in the South Eastern Sydney Local Health District (SESLHD). The clinician will provide services across health and education settings within SESLHD.
The clinician provides direct clinical services, coordinates service provision, and works collaboratively within a multidisciplinary clinical team and supports capacity building for health and education staff. The clinician is responsible for implementing specific quality initiatives in collaboration with the Brighter Beginnings Manager and other staff. Full participation in quality processes, clinical supervision and professional development is an integral expectation within this role. The Senior Speech Pathologist is able to provide clinical services to client groups and operate in circumstances of a complex nature requiring advanced practice skills.
The Senior Speech Pathologist is involved with the planning, implementation, evaluation and reporting on clinical services for their clinical specialty and the Brighter Beginnings Preschool Checks Initiative and provide consultation within the Brighter Beginnings Team. They may also conduct clinical research and participate in the provision of clinical in-service education programs to NSW Health and Department of Education staff and students. The clinician may be delegated an operational/supervisory role under the direction of the Brighter Beginnings Manager and may be required to manage
specific tasks or projects.

* Qualifications in accordance with Schedule C of the NSW Health Service Health Professionals (State) Award and eligibility for membership of Speech Pathology Australia.
* Extensive post graduate clinical experience in managing paediatric clients with communication and developmental difficulties and managing screening, assessment and early intervention in paediatric speech pathology
* Excellent negotiation, decision making and advocacy skills including the ability to interact constructively and collaboratively with a diverse range of stakeholders, throughout all organisational levels
* Demonstrated ability to provide high level clinical advice, education and support to enhance service delivery and to guide and support others in providing service excellence, with the capacity to provide clinical supervision to other staff
* Ability to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team and to apply advanced reasoning skills and independent professional judgement when dealing with situations of a novel, complex or critical nature
* Demonstrated ability to initiate, lead, complete and share quality improvement initiatives and service evaluation processes
* Demonstrated active participation in developing, implementing and reporting on services.
* A valid NSW Drivers Licence and willingness to travel to fulfil requirements of role.
