The Opportunity
Reporting to the Director, Family Law, the Manager, Child Representation is responsible for:
* leading, managing, supervising and guiding a team of lawyers engaged in Independent Children's Lawyer (ICL) work in the Federal Circuit and Family Court of Australia and care and protection child representation in the Youth Court (and representation in other courts as required) to ensure the efficient and effective use of resources and delivery of high-quality services that meet the needs of clients and the local community.
* planning and coordinating the work of a team of lawyers, allocating files, settling work and supervising lawyers.
* providing oversight and management of external ICL and child representative panel lawyers.
* developing strong partnerships with key internal and external stakeholders.
* conducting assigned family law and child protection casework that is of high criticality and highly complex, as other priorities permit.

Salary Range
LSC5 - $144,353 to $157,681 salary plus 12% super and leave loading. Please note: An Enterprise Agreement has been proposed with voting to take place in January 2026, for further information please speak to Human Resources on
As a not-for-profit organisation, Legal Services offers its employees attractive salary sacrifice arrangements, including up to $15,900 pre-tax each Fringe Benefit Tax (FBT) each year for general living expenses.

What You Need for Success
The ideal candidate will:
* Hold an unrestricted Category C Practising Certificate or eligible to apply for an unrestricted Category C Practising Certificate.
* Be admitted or eligible for admission as a practitioner of the Supreme Court of South Australia and High Court of Australia.
* Have a minimum of eleven years post admission legal experience in a relevant legal field.
* Experience leading, mentoring and managing a team of lawyers and administrative staff to set direction, motivate staff and coordinate work.
* Demonstrated professional credibility and legal ability including the capacity to provide the highest level and complexity legal advice and representation.
* Knowledge of family law (parenting, property, divorce, Hague Convention), child protection law including adoption matters, and other areas of law where child representation is required such as parens patriae matters.
