As part of the Group Risk & Compliance Division, you'll contribute to supporting the organisation's legal and regulatory obligations across banking, insurance and assistance business lines.
Your new role
Are you passionate about protecting customer data, investigating incidents, and helping organisations navigate their privacy obligations? We're supporting a well established organisation seeking an experienced Privacy Compliance Specialist to join their high performing compliance team in Brisbane.
As a key member of the line 2 compliance team, you will play an essential role in assessing incidents, analysing potential privacy breaches, and guiding the business on its regulatory reporting obligations. You'll also support ongoing initiatives by performing Privacy Impact Assessments (PIAs) across new products, processes, and technologies ensuring privacy by design is embedded into every business change.
Key responsibilities include:
* Reviewing and investigating incidents to determine whether a privacy breach has occurred.
* Assessing whether notifiable data breach reporting obligations are triggered.
* Preparing clear, well reasoned recommendations for senior leaders.
* Conducting Privacy Impact Assessments for business changes, new systems, and product rollouts.
* Providing privacy advice to stakeholders across the organisation.
* Supporting continuous improvement of privacy frameworks, processes, and controls.
* Potential to support the Manager Privacy Compliance in completing the annual assurance program, providing factual, pragmatic reporting to obligation, risk and control owners.
What you'll need to succeed
- Tertiary qualifications in a relevant discipline e.g. Commerce, Business, Economics, Finance or similar
- Experience in privacy, compliance, risk, data governance are all considered
- Ability to assess business incidents for compliance risk, root cause and potential privacy breaches, providing second line challenge
- High quality writing skills, particularly for summarising incidents and recommended outcomes.
- Highly developed analytical skills, demonstrating the capability to analyse and interpret complex information
