Support Worker
Posted: 27 November
Offer description

I am a young man in my late 20's living independently with support in my own home, in Halls Head. I am supported by my team of staff 24 hours a day ensure I am safe and supported in the community.
I have many interests including keeping fit, fishing, gaming, art and music, however I struggle to independently engage in my interests. I am seeking a young, male support workers who have shared interests, can keep me engaged and support me in my daily life. This might sound simple enough, but sometimes I disconnect entirely, and can not find the drive or motivation to do anything. I am seeking a positive role model that will understand this and use their initiative to find creative ways to engage me.
I go on yearly holidays to cool places, and I look forward to these a lot. My support staff support me to have these experiences, so if you have a sense of adventure, this might be for you.
Working closely alongside my Coordinator and Therapy Team is extremely important. An understanding of Positive Behaviour Support is desirable, however a capacity to learn about my therapy teams and how they support me is crucial. They all work together to put strategies in place to support me, and you will have a big role to play in this.
I primarily need support to encourage me to build capacity in my daily living skills, support to engage in in the community and to assist me in making good and safe choices. I need encouragement and support to attend my medical appointments. Sometimes I find day to day tasks boring – I need someone to spice these up for me.
