Primary objective
Provide specialist advice and practical front-end solutions to support client agencies to create and maintain a high-quality NT
Government (NTG) online presence that meets accessibility and usability best practices.
Context statement
The Web Design and Support branch provides centralised support to create and maintain a high-quality online presence (nt.gov.au
and agency corporate sites and ntgcentral.nt.gov.au) that meets national and industry standards, ensures effective Government
communication and delivers a superior user experience.
Key duties and responsibilities
1. Provide sound technical advice and frontend solutions to client agencies to ensure a high-quality NTG online presence.
2. Develop and maintain front-end web solutions, producing reusable, maintainable and well-documented code that meets
usability, accessibility, security and performance standards.
3. Build and maintain collaborative stakeholder relationships that create a high level of mutual trust and respect.
4. Manage priorities to deliver high-quality outcomes on schedule, keeping stakeholders informed of progress.
5. Apply and monitor web standards, quality frameworks and protocols to ensure a consistent, professional and contemporary
approach across government websites.
6. Identify opportunities for improvement and contribute to the development of policies, procedures and guidelines.
7. Actively participate as a member of the Web Design and Support branch, providing innovative solutions and working in a
collaborative manner to ensure alignment with other work unit activities.
Selection criteria
Essential
1. Knowledge of and experience in web-based products and front-end coding languages (HTML/CSS/JavaScript) in developing
maintainable, reusable and well‑documented code that prioritises accessibility, security and reliability.
2. Demonstrated knowledge of contemporary web technologies, industry standards and frameworks, with an ability to effectively
apply in a website environment.
3. Well-developed interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills with the ability to maintain collaborative working
relationships with clients, stakeholders, service providers and team members.
4. Strong organisational and time‑management skills to manage competing priorities and deliver high-quality outcomes on
schedule.
5. Proven analytical and problem-solving skills, with demonstrated capacity to apply initiative and flexibility and proven ability to
effectively communicate technical advice to non-technical audiences.
6. Demonstrated work ethic and attitude which emulates DCDD values of commitment to service, ethical practice, respect,
accountability, impartiality, diversity and innovation.
Desirable
Qualifications in relevant discipline e.g. information technology, web development or similar.
Familiarity with front-end development frameworks, design systems, modern development tools and coding agents (e.g. GitHub).
Knowledge or experience with administering web content management systems (e.g. Squiz Matrix, Drupal).
