Where You'll Be Working
This new role will have membership of a dedicated network of Social Workers, Psychologists and Counsellors committed to making a meaningful difference in the lives of children and their families. The position is based in Tamworth and joins a close-knit group of professionals, both Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal, who work as part of the HNE New Street Service and HNE Sparks Services, providing early intervention and trauma-informed, culturally safe care to children and young people who have demonstrated problematic or harmful sexualised behaviour (PHSB) and their families.
About The Role
This position will provide vital clinical leadership to the new Pathways to Safety and Support Pilot Service (PSSP). PSSP is a DCJ funded, NGO-led service establishing a new referral, triage and support service for children and young people (aged 0-17 years) with and harmed by PHSB and their families. The role will offer clinical expertise, advice and support to DCJ and the NGO provider in establishing and implementing the new centralised referral pathway, ensuring culturally safe responses. It also presents an opportunity to shape new service design and improve system-wide responses to children and young people affected by PHSB.
Successful applicants receive a comprehensive orientation and training program, regular clinical supervision, and professional development support via the NSW Health Education Centre Against Violence. The role is tightly connected with the New Street Service, Sparks Services and the Wider Violence, Abuse and Neglect Network in HNELHD.
About You
Social Worker, Psychologist or Counsellor with experience in assessment, safety planning, therapeutic intervention and systems advocacy for vulnerable children and families, particularly those who have experienced violence, abuse or neglect.
Strong knowledge and skills working with children and young people (0-17 years) who have demonstrated PHSB.
Experience in large government departments and the NGO sector is valued.
Skills in leading change and building collaborative inter-agency partnerships are highly regarded.
Well-developed knowledge of culturally safe services and a commitment to ongoing reflection and learning.
Requirements
Bachelor of Social Work, eligible for membership to Australian Association of Social Workers;
or
Degree in Psychology with full registration as a Psychologist with the Psychology Board of Australia;
or
Bachelor's degree in Counselling from a recognised provider with appropriate accreditation or registration as deemed appropriate.
Valid unrestricted driver's licence for use in NSW/Australia and willingness to travel.

Demonstrated clinical experience providing trauma-informed and culturally safe holistic assessment, case coordination, therapeutic intervention and systems advocacy for children, young people and families at risk of or experiencing violence, abuse, and neglect.
Advanced knowledge of the psycho-social, developmental, and intersectional issues, needs and dynamics of children and young people (aged 0–17 years) who have displayed PHSB and their families/carers, and of children and young people impacted by PHSB.
Advanced ability to partner with Aboriginal staff, service providers and community members to provide culturally safe service provision.
