Technical Program Manager, Region Services
A technical program manager is required to join the Region Services organization at Amazon Web Services (AWS) and take on a leading role in solving operational challenges in sensitive and mission-critical clouds. The TPM will drive large-scale global projects and initiatives, leading cross-functional teams focused on delivering new workflow features and tools that enhance productivity and security.
About AWS Utility Computing
AWS Utility Computing (UC) provides product innovations such as Amazon Simple Storage Service (S3) and Amazon Elastic Compute Cloud (EC2). As a member of the UC organization, you'll support the development and management of Compute, Database, Storage, Internet of Things (IoT), Platform, and Productivity Apps services in AWS, including specialized security solutions for cloud services.
About You
We're looking for a deeply technical and results-oriented Technical Program Manager (TPM) to define and drive Region Services initiatives. You will have a proven track record of planning and delivering complex programs with multi-year roadmaps using Agile and incremental delivery methods.
Key Responsibilities
1. Mentor and train indirect reports and members of the organization (technicians and TPMs).
2. Oversight of team learning and development from both technical/functional and soft skills perspectives.
3. Developing, improving, and sharing operational best practices across the region and globally.
A Day in the Life
1. You will gather business requirements, document specifications, ensure data capture for customer process measurement, assemble resources, assign responsibilities, and develop milestones.
2. Cross-functional collaboration, risk assessment, progress measurement, bottlenecks anticipation, escalation management, tradeoff making, and balancing business needs with technical constraints.
3. Rely heavily on influence over authority to drive project deliverables.
4. Presentation to Sr. Leadership on problems and solutions in a consumable manner.
5. Data collection, analytics, and dashboard creation for business improvement.
6. Global travel to manage and/or support initiatives.
7. Closely working with core customers, data center technicians.
Qualifications
* 5+ years of technical program management experience with software engineering teams.
* 7+ years of experience with engineering teams.
* Project management disciplines including scope, schedule, budget, quality, along with risk and critical path management.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
* Experience managing projects across cross-functional teams and building sustainable processes.
* Defining KPI's/SLA's used to drive businesses and reporting to senior leadership.
* PMP Certification.
