We are seeking a Mental Health Support Specialist to join our team. As a key member, you will play a vital role in shaping the future of mental health and wellbeing in Victoria. You will work closely with families, friends, and carers to support individuals facing mental health challenges, psychological distress, mental illness, or substance use concerns.
This is a purpose-driven role where people can thrive, everyone is respected, and differences are valued. You will draw on your real-life experience to partner with families, understand their needs, and offer 1:1 support around key areas of challenge. Additionally, you will facilitate network meetings and deliver group intervention training and courses to strengthen carers' ability to sustain their caring role.
Key Responsibilities
* Partner with families and carers to provide emotional support and guidance
* Facilitate network meetings and group interventions
* Develop and implement personalized support plans
* Maintain accurate records and reports
The ideal candidate will have personal lived experience of caring for someone with mental health challenges or psychosocial distress and recovery, as well as a Certificate IV/Diploma in Mental Health, AOD, or tertiary qualification in social science or 1+ year relevant work experience in the mental health sector or intentional Peer Support Training. You must also have demonstrated knowledge of family and caring roles and the impact on carers' health and wellbeing to determine support requirements, and demonstrated skill in establishing empowering and supportive partnerships with individuals, families, and carers.
The successful applicant will undergo a comprehensive screening process prior to commencement. This includes a current valid Driver's License, the ability to undertake travel for the role, and current Working with Children Check and NDIS Workers Screening Check.
