Partnering directly with the Head of Legal of a Big 4 bank on the appointment of a Senior Legal Counsel to join a highly regarded inhouse disputes and litigation team.
This is a senior, strategic role suited to an experienced commercial litigator with a strong background in large, complex matters. The role involves close partnership with the business on high-value disputes with significant reputational and customer impact, and is open to candidates from both private practice and inhouse environments.
The role
This role plays a key part in shaping the bank's approach to its most significant disputes, with a strong emphasis on strategy, judgment and outcomes. You will advise senior stakeholders on complex matters with material commercial, regulatory and reputational implications, guiding disputes through to resolution in line with the bank's broader risk framework. You will be deeply embedded in the business, working closely with executives and internal teams to assess risk, set dispute strategy and make informed decisions that balance legal exposure, customer outcomes and regulatory expectations.
Key responsibilities include
• leading strategy on large, complex commercial litigation and disputes
• advising senior stakeholders on legal risk, reputational considerations and customer outcomes
• managing and instructing top-tier external counsel
• overseeing class actions, regulatory proceedings and significant commercial claims
• working closely with the business to resolve disputes efficiently and pragmatically

About you
• 10+ years PQE (or close to) in commercial litigation or dispute resolution
• top-tier or strong national firm background preferred
