Our growing Pump and Pipeline team in Brisbane is seeking a skilled and detail orientated Senior Mechanical Designer with expertise in Autodesk Plant3D to support a range of exciting projects. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing and modeling mechanical systems and piping layouts across sectors such as mining, tailings, water, and hydropower, ensuring compliance with project specifications, standards, and timelines.
What you will do
- Design and update 3D models of piping, mechanical equipment, and plant layouts in AutoCAD Plant 3D.
- Produce 2D general arrangement drawings, 3D isometric assemblies, pipe routing drawings, and fabrication details.
- Create PFDs, P&IDs;, and generate equipment, valve, and piping lists.
- Collaborate with engineers and designers to integrate mechanical systems across disciplines.
- Support clash detection and layout coordination using detailed 3D models.
- Ensure compliance with engineering specs and relevant standards (ASME, AS, ISO).
- Manage drawing revisions in line with change control procedures.
The ideal candidate
- Advanced Diploma or equivalent in Mechanical Engineering.
- 10+ years’ experience in mechanical/piping design within mining, industrial, or process sectors.
- Advanced proficiency in Autodesk Plant 3D (including P&ID;), Navisworks, and AutoCAD.
- Strong knowledge of piping systems, mechanical equipment, and plant layout principles.
- Familiarity with Australian and international standards (AS, ASME, ISO).
- High attention to detail and ability to manage multiple drawing packages.
- Valid driver’s licence and willingness to travel as required.
- Experience with Inventor and other Autodesk tools.
- Understanding of BIM workflows and interdisciplinary coordination.
- Exposure to mining, tailings, water, or energy projects.
- Strong communication, time management, and problem-solving skills.
- Commitment to safety, quality, and collaborative teamwork. languages are an asset.
- Willing and able to travel both domestically and internationally.
