About the Role
Full Time 1.0 FTE. School psychologists are an essential part of the Department's school counselling service and work in primary and high schools. They provide counselling and psychological assessment of students to strengthen learning and wellbeing outcomes, helping families understand and manage children's learning and mental health needs. This role offers opportunities for professional development and impact on children and young people.
The successful candidate will work at Ku-ring-gai High School, collaborating with school communities, other agencies, and a multidisciplinary team. They will receive professional supervision and participate in continuing professional development. Key Accountabilities
* Provides counselling and psychological services to students, individually and in groups, including short‐term therapeutic interventions within training and supervision constraints.
* Engages with and implements the Professional Practice Framework for the NSW School Counselling Service.
* Works in consultation with the principal, school executive, staff and student support services to improve student learning and wellbeing outcomes.
* Contributes to the social, emotional, and academic development of students and supports schools with complex behavioural needs.
* Administers cognitive, social, emotional and behavioural assessments, reports on results, and collaborates to improve learning, wellbeing and mental health outcomes.
* Works collaboratively with learning and support teams, parents, carers, and other agencies to develop appropriate school‐based support for students.
* Responds as part of a team to assist schools experiencing serious incidents.
* Refers students and/or their families and carers to external agencies that support student health and wellbeing.
Essential Requirements
* Knowledge of and commitment to the Department's Aboriginal Education Policy, Partnership Agreement with the NSW AECG Inc., and the Diversity and Inclusion Strategy.
* General or Provisional Psychology Registration with the Psychology Board of Australia.
* Valid and current Working with Children Check clearance – WWCC NSW.
* Current and valid driver's licence; ability and willingness to travel between sites.
* Australian citizenship or permanent residency.

Package valued up to $182,461 + incentives (where applicable). Base salary ranges from $101,122 – $160,983* plus leave loading and superannuation contribution. Base salary rates above the minimum are available depending on experience. Access to SPAC is available after progressing through all salary steps and obtaining Advanced Certification against the NSW School Counselling Service Professional Practice Framework.
