Energy Risk Professional
This role is a vital part of the middle office, responsible for monitoring risk exposure and supporting energy trading activities.
You will work closely with front and back-office teams to ensure compliance with internal risk frameworks, analyze credit exposures, and support the evaluation of new energy products.
* Act as a key user of the Energy Trading & Risk Management (ETRM) system—supporting daily operations, continuous improvement, and system integration.
* Monitor market and credit risk exposures across wholesale electricity and environmental certificate markets, ensuring alignment with internal policies and trading limits.
* Analyze performance of wholesale portfolio positions including generation and renewable assets.
* Support the credit risk process—monitoring limits, assessing counterparties, and overseeing reporting.
* Collaborate with analytics teams to build or enhance risk models that assess market exposure, forecast volatility, and inform trading strategy.
* Help evaluate the impact of new energy products on risk profile and portfolio performance.
* Support compliance with energy risk and credit risk policies and assist in refining internal governance processes.
* Work with internal data teams to ensure clean data structures and reporting workflows that enable real-time decision making.
Requirements
* Strong understanding of the NEM, energy markets, and environmental products (both physical and financial).
* Experience working in energy trading, risk, or middle office functions—ideally within a generator, gentailer, or energy retailer.
* Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret large datasets.
* Strong reporting skills using Excel, Power BI, or similar tools.
* A collaborative and proactive approach, comfortable working cross-functionally in a fast-moving environment.
