Health Information Services Professional
We are seeking an experienced and skilled individual to join our team as a Health Information Services Professional. This is a full-time position that offers a hybrid work model providing flexibility to work remotely.
* The role involves conducting regular coding audits, provision of coding education to the team, education of clinicians on clinical documentation, DRG and activity-based funding, and driving continuous improvement initiatives.
In this role, you will be responsible for:
* Conducting comprehensive coding audits to identify areas of improvement and implement strategies to enhance coding accuracy.
* Leading and providing ongoing coding education to support team growth and professional development.
* Preparing and delivering education and training activities to the coding team.
* Educating clinicians on clinical documentation improvement, DRG and activity-based funding.
* Timely and accurate completion of clinical coding using ICD-10-AM, ACHI and the provision of Diagnosis Related Groups (DRGs); adhering to the Australian Coding Standards when interpreting documentation for coding purposes.
Key Responsibilities
The successful candidate will have:
* Bachelor of Health Information Management or Clinical Coding qualification or completion of Clinical Coding Auditing course and eligibility for full HIMAA membership.
* Demonstrated auditing experience in a tertiary hospital with sound knowledge of audit processes and data integrity.
* Minimum of 3-5 years coding experience in abstracting and coding across a wide case mix in a private or public health facility.
* Sound understanding of Australian and NSW Coding Standards.
* Knowledge of developing, designing and implementing training programs for coders and clinical documentation improvement recommendations.
* Highly technical and analytical skills with the ability to analyse complex data and report on trends, advanced skills including report writing and pivot tables.
* Thorough understanding of NSW Policy and funding guidelines and NSW Admitted Episodes Dataset.
* Highly developed interpersonal, communication and problem-solving skills.
* Ability to maintain the strictest confidentiality in all work matters and commitment to Privacy principles.
