Are you an experienced engineering professional ready to shape the future of engineering education? Join us and bring your industry expertise into the classroom as an Engineering Professional Practice Fellow / Lecturer. About the Role
The School of Civil and Mechanical Engineering (CME) is seeking experienced engineering professionals with a passion for education to join our teaching team. The roles are ideal for professionals with significant experience working in civil, mechanical or construction engineering or a closely related field, who are eager to share their expertise with the next generation of engineers, and help students bridge the gap between theory and practice.
You will contribute to the development and delivery of high quality, practice-informed teaching in the sub‑discipline of Engineering Management within the Bachelor of Engineering and / or Master of Engineering Management programmes, supervise industry‑relevant student projects and collaborate with colleagues to enhance curriculum design.
Responsibilities
* Actively contribute to the organisation, planning, delivery and evaluation of teaching in Civil or Mechanical Engineering or Engineering Management.
* Demonstrate best practice, innovative teaching methods that enhance the student experience.
* Assess and provide feedback on student work, contributing to curriculum innovation and content design.
* Actively engage with the Civil and Mechanical Engineering disciplines and promote a positive and inclusive work environment.
* Apply relevant health and safety standards, including required responsibilities of Supervisors for practical classes and research students.
* Promote the discipline within and outside the University community by engaging in service and leadership roles, as well as outreach activities.
* In all interactions with staff and students, demonstrate the University values of integrity, respect, courage, excellence and impact.
Selection Criteria
Essential
* Professional qualifications in Civil or Mechanical Engineering, or a closely related field, and significant, demonstrable experience in engineering industry, with evidence of participation in a technical role(s).
* Demonstrated capability for developing and delivering teaching in technical, professional or academic domains.
* Demonstrated ability or potential to supervise undergraduate and postgraduate research projects.
* Demonstrated high level communication and interpersonal skills with a commitment to the development of a collegial and supportive working environment and the ability to interact with students and staff with cross‑cultural sensitivity.
* Demonstrated commitment to integrity, equity, inclusivity and health and safety.
Desirable
* Chartered status with a professional engineering body.
* Experience in conducting or managing industry R&D projects, and the authorship / dissemination of reports arising.
* A PhD in an engineering related field.
Role Requirements
These are continuing (permanent) roles, you will require permanent work rights in Australia to be considered. Successful applicants are subject to a National Police Clearance, and background, integrity, and reference checks to Curtin's satisfaction. These are part‑time roles and we are open to negotiation between – FTE.
