Position Overview
The Encapsulation Operator is responsible for operating, monitoring, and maintaining encapsulation packaging equipment in a TGA-licensed facility specializing in probiotic manufacturing. This role ensures compliance with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), Therapeutic Goods Administration (TGA) regulations, and company quality standards to produce high-quality probiotic products.
Key Responsibilities
1. Equipment Operation & Production
* Operate, adjust, and troubleshoot encapsulation filling machines to ensure efficient production. - Perform machine setup, calibration, and changeovers for different product runs.
* Monitor and control parameters such as capsule fill weight, sachet sealing integrity, and packaging accuracy.
* Ensure smooth operation by minimizing downtime and reporting maintenance issues.
2. Compliance & Quality Control
* Follow TGA, GMP, and SOPs to ensure regulatory compliance.
* Conduct in-process quality checks (e.g., weight variation, moisture content, seal integrity). - Accurately document batch records, logbooks, and other production-related paperwork. - Work with Quality Assurance to resolve non-conformances and implement corrective actions.
3. Cleaning & Maintenance
* Perform regular cleaning and sanitization of equipment and work areas per GMP standards. - Assist in routine and preventative maintenance of machines.
* Ensure a clean and organized workspace to meet hygiene and cross-contamination prevention requirements.
4. Safety & Continuous Improvement
* Adhere to workplace health and safety (WHS) policies and report hazards.
* Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency and reduce waste. - Work collaboratively with team members to meet production targets and deadlines.
Qualifications & Experience
Essential:
* Experience operating encapsulation filling machines in a pharmaceutical, nutraceutical, or food manufacturing environment.
* Understanding of TGA and GMP compliance in a regulated facility.
* Strong attention to detail and ability to follow SOPs and batch manufacturing records. - Basic mechanical aptitude to troubleshoot equipment issues.
Desirable:
* Experience in probiotic or powder-based product manufacturing.
* Forklift license (preferred but not required).
* Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing, 5S, or Continuous Improvement methodologies.
