Position Summary
We are seeking a practical and hardworking Plant & Yard Assistant to support the day-to-day running of the crushing and ore sorting area. This role is focused on assisting production operators with plant housekeeping, material handling, cleanup, inspection support, and general operational tasks.
This is an important support role within a small mining team and is well suited to someone who is physically capable, safety-conscious, and willing to learn site production systems. The successful candidate will work closely with plant operators, maintenance personnel, and supervisors to help keep the operation running smoothly.
Key Responsibilities
* Assist with day-to-day activities around the crushing, screening, conveying, and ore sorting areas
* Carry out cleanup and housekeeping around belts, bins, hoppers, transfer points, and operating areas
* Support the movement and management of ore, concentrate, waste, and site materials
* Assist with inspections, start-up checks, shutdown support, and general plant preparation
* Provide support with sampling, weighing, recording, and basic material handling tasks as required
* Help maintain safe access, clear working areas, and orderly site conditions
* Assist production and maintenance personnel with general site tasks when needed
* Follow all site safety procedures and directions from supervisors
Requirements
* Previous experience in mining, quarrying, process plant, construction, or industrial site environments preferred
* Good attitude, strong work ethic, and willingness to work in a hands-on site-based role
* Ability to work outdoors and perform physically demanding tasks
* Basic mechanical awareness and understanding of safe work practices
* Ability to work well within a team and follow instructions
* Forklift, loader, or other plant experience is an advantage but not essential
