About the role South West Healthcare (SWH) is seeking a Cancer Care - Aboriginal Liaison Officer (ALO) to join our dedicated team in Hamilton. This role is integral to supporting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples to access culturally safe, respectful and responsive cancer care. Working closely with patients, families, clinical teams and community partners, the ALO provides advocacy, guidance and practical support across the cancer journey, helping to reduce barriers to care and improve health outcomes through strong cultural connection and trust. Position overview * Employment Type: Part-time (40 hours per fortnight), Fixed term position Commencing early 2026, ending late March 2028 * Location: Hamilton * Classification: Community Development Worker * Salary Range: $67,537.60 - $88,722.40 pro rata, plus superannuation What you bring You will have an understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health and culture, with the ability to engage respectfully with individuals, families and communities. You will bring strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills, supporting culturally safe cancer care and improved access to services. You will also have: * Knowledge of Aboriginal culture, kinship and community networks * Experience in the Aboriginal Health sector (essential) * The ability to support health promotion and reduce barriers to care * Sound computer skills, including Microsoft Office Designated Position * Under section 12 Special Measures of the Equal Opportunity Act 2010 interested applicants will be asked to supply a completed confirmation of Aboriginality form or a copy of a past completed form.
